-
Tacoma Power seeks a highly organized, analytical, and collaborative individual with attention to detail to join the Utilities Technology Services department as their next Operational Compliance Analyst.

In this role, the Operational Compliance Analyst will engage cross-departmental workgroups to gather information and perform critical activities related to the department's daily operations.

These activities will include supporting the department's asset management and compliance programs. This position will be responsible for planning, scheduling the testing, and reporting on the critical communication services that protect Tacoma Power's transmission system - as mandated by NERC.

Additionally, this position participates in developing and supporting the department strategies related to optimizing business operations and leveraging technology where practicable. To accomplish this, the individual in this role is responsible for researching, documenting, and creating/updating department processes and identifying technology opportunities that work to improve those processes. This individual will help and support mission-critical applications that may be used by multiple business units.

Responsibilities Includes:

Operational Compliance Support -

  • Plans, coordinates, and documents work across operational groups related to certain NERC compliance requirements
  • Helps coordinate and optimize resources for projects and initiatives between multiple operational groups - with the goal of minimizing outage impacts across various services.
  • Documents and tracks evidence - as mandated by NERC
  • Help identify opportunities where technology can increase efficiencies and decrease risk

Participation in resource planning/management -

  • Generate workgroup team performance metrics
  • Service request/trouble ticket management and assignment as needed
  • Perform customer outreach and follow-up
  • Work with other business units to increase their usage of current and future work management tools to help with organizational objectives

Conducts contract management and oversight -

  • Track and report on Third Party Agreements and Contracts to ensure accuracy of accounting, contract terms, and approval of invoices
  • Track ongoing cost and expiration of agreements for planning of upcoming budgets
  • Assists in cost-benefit analysis of current and potential future vendor contracts

Operationalizing Capital Initiatives -

  • Documents processes and expectations when capital projects transition to operations
  • Helps with the development of training materials
  • Onboarding of maintenance/warranty agreements, ensuring ongoing vendor adheres to agree to level of support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, information technology or directly related field
  • 4 years of progressively responsible analytical and/or functional analyst, user support or database maintenance work in area related to assignment

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.

Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
