Position Description
Seattle City Light is seeking an Energy Management Analyst Supervisor to serve as both a subject matter expert and technical lead for the Utility's Strategic Technology Transfer program. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of new technology projects, and supporting City Light customers as they increase their electrification. The team is currently working on ferry electrification, flexible load projects, supporting customer hydrogen projects, transit bus electrification, and two grant-funded studies on eco-districts. This position reports to the Grid Modernization and Strategic Technology Senior Manager.

City Light's Electrification and Strategic Technology Division oversees the utility's efforts related to transportation and building electrification, grid modernization and strategic technology. With increasing electrification, the overall goal is to provide solutions for added growth and improved reliability implemented in an equitable fashion across the service territory.

Job Responsibilities
Here is more about what you'll be doing:

  • Supervise the work of some of the Energy Management Analysts in the Electrification and Strategic Technology Division, specifically those working in the Strategic Tech Transfer team.
  • Facilitate participation by owners of commercial and industrial facilities in City electrification programs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for new strategic technologies being deployed across the electric utility industry and adopted by customers, including solar PV, battery storage, etc.
  • Review technical analyses prepared by energy management professionals for compliance with Seattle City Light policies, drivers, and objectives.
  • Monitor work progress relative to schedules, goals and objectives. Take corrective action to ensure attainment of unit goals.
  • Manage customer requests for assistance and make assignments to staff.
  • Direct the development of business processes and procedures to ensure compliance with overall program and project goals and objectives.
  • Participate on the unit's management team and may coordinate programs or program elements to contribute to unit goals.
  • Provide technical assistance to other departmental units regarding electrification.
  • Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
  • Apply new technology areas to support customer objectives, both utility and customer-sided.
  • Support financial reporting and new project budget development.
  • Direct the coordination and review of work submitted by consultants and manufacturers.
  • Support development of written standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for new technologies.
  • Support the utility's strategic initiatives, such as the race and social justice program.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:

Baccalaureate Degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline and three years experience in professional commercial/industrial energy management analysis, with at least one year of supervisory or lead worker experience (Other combinations of education, training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability).

License, Certification and Other Requirements:
Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Most work is performed in a normal City work or office environment.
  • Work entails visiting commercial and industrial customers and touring their facilities to identify energy conservation opportunities and to conduct inspections.

Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
Applicable knowledge of:

  • New Grid Technology Asset implementations, customer services connections, and utility operations

Experience with:

  • Distribution or Grid-Edge equipment installation and operations
  • Coordination of activities which impact engineering, field crews and operations personnel

Also:

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Examples showing willingness to learn independently and shared knowledge; Quick learner with ability to be flexible and growth oriented to adapt to new situations

Additional Information
The full salary range for this position is $56.63to $65.98 per hour.
